handling backward compatibility in HTML5.0

April 13, 2012

Backward compatibility is not a issue, you can deal with it by using HTML 5 shiv.

Create the new element using JavaScript, and IE or Firefox 2.0 will able to style it:

document.createElement(‘header’);

But as I said before in one my posts, if your website is 100% validated as per W3C standards then there is no point for hitting HTML5.0.

HTML5.0 should be considered when you are planning to build a new website and you need it compatible in mobiles as well, that is when it becomes crucial that’s all.

In terms of SEO XHTML-1.0 is fine there is no point in moving forward just for SEO reasons!
